The 4th International Conference of Islamic Epistemology is held by Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia in partnership with Research Synergy Foundation, co-hosted by Universitas Islam As-Syafi’iyah, International Institute of Islamic Thought, and Universitas Islam Indonesia virtually on 7-8 August 2023. Hundred of scholars coming from 20 countries had involved in the active scientific forum discussion. Since there were many questions and feedback from the audience to the Keynote Speaker, we will continue the discussion in this forum. The Keynote Speaker is Prof. Jasser Auda, The President of Maqasid Institute Global. He talks about "Maqasid Methodology for Re-Envisioning Islamic Higher Education".
There were several questions that are coming from the attendees.
Q1.) Mamdukh Budiman_UNIMUS --> I want to ask the honorable
As we understand that Al Quran is a source of Knowledge
1. Why has the Epistemologist of Islamic and Science Studies not grounded and spread into the concepts of scientific thought? is this the reality of many researchers, students have not been integrated?
2. What is the methodology in epistemology of matching verses or analyzing verses?
3. how to integrate Islam and Epistemology Science so that researchers and students get guidance from Allah SWT
Q2.) Nurhayati Djamas --> Our topic on maqashid shariah basically include five dimension that are hifzhuddin, hiffzhun nafs, hifzhul 'aqal, hifzhul nasal, and hifzhul maal ( protection of religion, protection of life, protection of aql, protection of birth and heritage and protection of properties)...our focus on Islamic epistemology with the main theme is the integration of knowledge, between Islamic Studies and secular knowledge with the main objectives are ayatul kauniyah..Allah's creatures on the world..my question is how to widen maqashid shariah into epistemology of all knowledge..as you mention as natural sciences, social sciences, humanitic science and applied science such as engineering..
Q3.) MARK JED AREVALO --> QUESTION: How about writing the RRL?As a Muslim scholar, are we allowed to use the scientific findings from Western works as reference of our further research?
Q4.) DR MUHAMMAD SARWAR --> Dear Prof. Is it true that the implementing power is in the hands of liberal forces including all Muslim countries,then how can this objective can be achieved?

This is incredibly and enlightening session from you. May Allah always give His Barakah to you and your family.
As we know and faith that Allah already give Islam as the way of life that consist of complete solution for our problem ini this world. With Maqasid methodology, we also encouraged to use Islam as fundamental to find the solution of our problem. However, there are not only moslem live in our society so my question is: In what ways can the Maqasid methodology contribute to promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding by highlighting the common goals and values shared across different religious traditions?
