كيف يُمكن فهمُ دلالةِ اللغةِ من منظورٍ لُغويٍّ في ضوءِ مقاصدِ الشريعة، وما مدى تأثيرِ هذا الفهمِ على توجيهِ البحوثِ المعاصرةِ وتفعيلِها في واقعنا الراهن؟
Q1) This is always an interesting question because it reveals the extent to which modern culture and theorizing have distorted our ability to understand and live the truth of the Quran and divine wisdom. The patriarchy factor is not a reason in the Arabic language – this is a modern feminist construct even if it has historical roots in western thought and experience. The Word of Allah, His Revelation, – including His name and how He refers to Himself – does not yield to human biases born out of historical injustices rather than genuine readings of Truth. Allah is not a term it is a name (ism), with Authoritative Truth. It is Allah who chose Arabic for its capacity to elucidate meaning in dynamic ways without losing its essence and the unshakeable truths of His creation. The entire discourse on pronouns is misguided and has misguided many segments of this ummah who have uncritically submitted to the nonsense of disbelief and secularism. To be Muslim is to believe in Allah and His Word. If He refers to Himself as a He, then it is as such. “It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have determined an affair that they have any choice in their affair. And whoever defies Allah and His Messenger, they have strayed in a manifest way” (Al-Ahzab 33:36). It is important to understand that this reference as “He” no more means male, man, or patriarch than does referring to the moon in the masculine. Allah is One, and there is nothing like unto Him. Let us, as an ummah, stand firm for our beliefs and reject the corruptive discourse that will sooner or later destroy deviant cultures. Let us question, examine, and seek to genuinely understand the nature of things as feminine and masculine but let us never bring Allah, the Almighty, into such frivolous discussions. He is above all, and I shudder to even be having this discussion about Him. High above all human comprehension is He. Glory to Him, Lord of the Worlds and Astaghfirullah.
