“Tidal and Diel Variability in Physico-Environmental Parameters in Calatagan Marine Protected Area”
by Sariah R. Villanueva, Mark Anthony A. Sison Sison, Joshuanie Kristine F. Rosero, Kasandra C. Tapas, & Christopher A. Malay

This study examines how tidal phases and diel or day–night cycles influence physico-environmental conditions in the **Calatagan Marine Protected Area (MPA), Batangas, Philippines**. Using 24-hour high-frequency monitoring across mangrove, tidal channel, and open sea stations, the research provides important insights into the short-term environmental dynamics of tropical coastal ecosystems.

💡 The findings reveal that tidal and diel variations significantly affect water quality and atmospheric parameters, including nitrate, dissolved oxygen, salinity, air temperature, light intensity, and humidity. The study highlights the need for monitoring approaches that consider both time of day and tidal phase to better understand environmental changes in mangrove-coastal systems.

🌿 The results contribute a valuable baseline for adaptive, site-specific management of Marine Protected Areas, especially in tropical coastal environments facing environmental variability and climate-related pressures.
