Overview
With growing attention being paid to holistic growth of learners in global education, the scope of the importance of English language teaching is widening from language proficiency to the development of necessary life skills. This edited book, titled “Life Skills Development in TESOL: Bridging Language Learning and 21st Century Skills,” attempts to investigate this topic. It is situated in TESOL and Applied Linguistics and aims to draw the connection between theory and practice in developing life skills within the realm of language learning.
Aims and Scope
This volume welcomes contributions that explore the intersection of English learning and life skills development, including (but not limited to):
• Theoretical frameworks linking TESOL and life skills education
• Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity in ESL/EFL classrooms
• Discourse-based approaches to life skills development
• Content-Based Instruction (CBI) and task-based learning
• Collaborative learning and writing practices
• Assessment of life skills in TESOL contexts
• Curriculum design integrating language and 21st-century competencies
• Teacher and learner perspectives on life skills
• Case studies from primary, secondary, and tertiary education
• Innovative pedagogical practices and classroom applications
• Civic engagement, sustainability, and global issues in ESL/EFL teaching
Target Audience
The volume is intended for:
• Researchers in TESOL and Applied Linguistics
• Teacher educators and trainers
• EFL/ESL practitioners
• Graduate and postgraduate students
• Curriculum designers and policymakers
Submission Guidelines
• Abstract length: 250–300 words
• Chapter length: 7,000–10,000 words
• Submissions must be original and unpublished
Important Dates
• Abstract submission deadline: 10 May 2026
• Notification of acceptance: 25 May 2026
• Full chapter submission: 25 July 2026
• Final manuscript submission to publisher: December 2026
